Meet the maker

One maker, one lathe, one piece at a time.

Sam has been making things with wood most of his life: model airplanes as a kid, theatre sets, construction, furniture repair, and eventually charcuterie boards and other small pieces. In 2020 he added woodturning with classes at the Campbell School.

Since 2025 he has focused almost entirely on turning. He’s inspired by the natural beauty of wood: the grain, the colors and patterns of spalting, and the irregular figure of burls. He loves sharing functional art with others.

Lainey the beagle handles quality control, or at least the napping-in-the-doorway part of quality control.
